Abstract
This research aims to determine the phenomenon of FoMO (Fear of Missing Out) syndrome that
occurs in the millennial generation of students at the Faculty of Public Health, Nusa Cendana
University, Kupang. This research uses symbolic interaction theory, using exploratory qualitative
research with thematic analysis, where the data collection techniques used are observation and
interviews. The research results found that the millennial generation at the Faculty of Public Health,
Nusa Cendana University Kupang, experienced medium levels of FOMO syndrome which affected
their lifestyle. There are some of who have a lifestyle characteristic of checking their social media all
the time, this is not the case with high frequency. This is motivated by the idea that finding out about
something that is not important to them is the same as wasting time.
